This is a simple, low-cost, part-time business where you curate fun, useful, hyper-local news for residents of a specific area and earn recurring income by selling advertising and sponsorship to local businesses.

To be honest, I was a little bit ahead of the curve on this one.

It’s a huge and growing business in the US, but it’s still under the radar over here.

Right now the Local Email Newsletter space in the UK is a wide-open opportunity – there are only a handful of early movers, and the market is practically begging for more people to step in, claim their patch, and become the trusted local voice before this explodes in 2026.

There’s definitely some momentum building…

An old business colleague I hadn’t heard from in almost 15 years emailed me out of the blue this week to say he saw me mention the Local Email Newsletter model and by sheer coincidence he had recently started his own!
