However, on the other hand, we’ve also seen a more negative trend…

The Great Decline in Trust

This year, levels of public trust have reached new lows.

We’re losing faith in politicians, CEOs, utility companies, ‘tech bros’ and those billionaires who control so much of the information network… each with their own agenda.

Are they really looking after our interests?

Alongside this has been the inexorable rise of AI slop.

A many as 2.4 billion people are now using AI tools like ChatGPT.

Which is good, because it gives ordinary people the ability to communicate clearly… to translate their ideas into images… to carry out research and analysis without specialised skills… and to save hours of time running a business.

However, it also means that anyone can simply enter a prompt and pump out whatever AI gives it.

Or they can even just get an AI agent to do absolutely everything without being involved at all!

So, increasingly, internet users are losing trust in what they see, hear and read online.

…Autogenerated AI posts that have zero human input…

…Bots created by shady organisations to sow disruption and disinformation…

…Deep fakes and manipulated videos that look frighteningly real…

…Bland articles with no personality, no specifics and no real practical value…

…Advice that is unchecked, inaccurate and even downright dangerous.
